All those taking part in any events coordinated by Yaringa Mariners Club (YMC) do so at their own risk. Neither YMC nor its officials are responsible for any damage or injury, either ashore or at sea, either to persons or boats, which might result from participating in an organised event.

Briefing Notes are prepared by the Yaringa Mariners Club from time to time to provide information for those taking part in organised events. While every care is taken to avoid errors, no warranties as to the accuracy of the data or advice contained therein are intended or implied.

Owner And Skipper's Responsibility

The safety and navigation of each vessel is the sole and inescapable responsibility of the owner or skipper, who must do their best to see that the vessel is fully sound, thoroughly seaworthy and they must ensure that all safety equipment is properly maintained and stowed and that the crew know where it is kept and how it is to be used.

It is the sole responsibility of the skipper to ensure that the vessel is appropriately crewed for the journey being undertaken.

It is the sole responsibility of the skipper to decide whether to put to sea or continue sailing.

The skipper shall comply with the "International Regulations for Preventing Collision at Sea 1983" as amended from time to time.

Fitness To Participate

By ticking the Fit to participatecheckbox on the relevant form (specific to the event), you are certifying that you believe that your vessel is sound and appropriately equipped for the voyage and that you and your crew have appropriate skill levels and physical fitness to complete the voyage safely.

Before agreeing to this, you are strongly encouraged to attend one of the many sail training courses at various AYF/RYA affiliated schools.

Distribution Of Registration Details

Please be aware that your registration details may be circulated to fellow cruisers and Volunteer Sea Rescue groups in the interest of safety.

All boats participating in a YMC cruise or race do so at their own risk. At all times it is the decision of the Skipper of the boat and the Skipper alone to sail or to continue to sail.
